Overall I am pleased with my final edits of the photos as there is a variety of different styles. I like the fact that the edits I done with one photo on top of the other look effective and in some of these edits it is as though you are looking at a memory because the album name is To Kiss, To Love, To Die. And in a couple of these edits you can see them about to kiss and then in the background him cradling her as she has died so within that edit it is as though you are seeing the past and the present. Again like this in another one of my edits you see the start of their relationship (To Kiss) and then in the background how it has grown into something special (To Love).
I think that the photos I took in the studio are good because in a way they are quite passionate, the lighting is romantic, which is the impression that we were trying to give, and with having the light in the background in the photo it is as though they are standing under the moonlight, which is a typical Hollywood movie type thing to do and I think that it works very effectively, I particularly like the photos with the light shining between them as they are about to kiss as there is shadow on their faces as the light is focused on their features and then fades to black around the sides. Also there is more light shining on his face as he is the musician so I didn’t want the photo to distract from the fact that it is an album cover for a solo artist.
I think that my location shots by the river are also good as again I got a variety of different angles which makes photo shop a lot easier to work with. For the shots that we wanted the location was very good as there wasn’t that much going on in the background that would distract from the subjects, also the background was plain enough for me to add text to in the edit and it wouldn’t look messy or out of place. When I was on location and he was playing his guitar I managed to get some interesting shots of his guitar whilst he was playing and at different angles, with the different lighting that we had we were able to create a nice shadow, which I was then able to photograph and was able to use it for one of my edits.
If I was to do this assignment again, I honestly don’t know what I would do differently because over all I think that all I had a good variety of shots both in the studio and on location as we were prepared and knew exactly where we were going on location and what it was that we wanted to get from these. I was able to edit my photos to a standard that I am happy with and I think that because I had a variety of shots to choose from it made it a lot easier for me to come up with a selection of final edits.
